Solidario was the first microfinance provider in Latin America to be 100 % privately financed. The institution is now equipped with a banking license and total assets of over EUR 500 million. The operational focus is still on the granting of microcredits to around 500,000 entrepreneurs and 1.3 million workers in Ecuador.
Solidario runs a large educational program to support its customers in their financial planning. In 2018 over 4,000 people could be reached. In addition, Solidario launched the “Impacto Cero” campaign in 2016 together with the cities of Quito, Guayaquil and the national environmental department, which promotes environmental and climate protection measures. This includes, for example, reforestation, waste management or beach cleaning.
