Crecer Logo

CRECER (Crédito con Educación Rural) was founded in 1990 by the non-governmental organization Freedom From Hunger. The original goal was to combat malnutrition and the lack of development opportunities for the population around Lake Titicaca. For almost 20 years now, CRECER has mainly been working as a regulated microfinance institution with more than EUR 220 million in fixed assets and 85 sales locations across the country. Of its almost 200,000 customers, more than 60% percent live in rural or remote regions; 80% of them are women.

CRECER’s key to success is the close link between financial services, education and awareness programs. The institution supports its customers and their families with six targeted training modules for financial education, vocational training, housing, health, health insurance and – as in the early days – nutrition. Public events with e.g. information stands are organized on a regular basis.
